Come fly, Yogis!
Aerial Yoga is a combination of traditional yoga postures with skilful manoeuvres using the support of fabric in space. Come learn to move in the air with confidence and grace as you gain strength in a supportive environment. Join Winnie Au at Little Mandarin Yoga for a 2-hour aerial yoga workshop.
Expect to sweat and laugh a lot with like-minded yogis on the hammock. From aerial basics to challenging poses, develop the internal strength required to work with instability whilst learning when to surrender to gravity and just relax. Discover the movements authentic to your own body and embark on a journey to freedom.
In this workshop:
Enjoy the benefits of supported inversions on the hammock - relieving compression in the spine and joints;
Learn to safely move in and out of both simple supported inversions and more complex postures;
Build upper body and core strength, flexibility and coordination as we manoeuvre through the hammock;
Deepen the awareness and connection to the body by aligning intelligently to the natural design of the human body;
Have fun balancing between controlled and relaxed movements; and
Get to know yourself on a deeper level, whilst observing, exploring and embracing your inner child (and fear) through the practice.
All levels are welcome! Whether you are looking to give aerial yoga a try, or are wanting to deepen your regular practice, all you need is to come with a fresh mind, be ready to explore and have fun!
Investment: $50 (limited 13 spots)
Winnie is a lover and practitioner of not only aerial yoga but aerial silks, aerial hoop and pole dancing. A mind-body practice has always been her passion and her own yoga practice is the source of her health, energy and inspiration.
What started out as a way to workout, soon became a way of life. Coming from an architectural background, for years her life had been a juggle of deadlines until she discovered yoga in 2012. Since then, she has found herself faithfully on her mat every day - re-establishing alignment between mind and body, experiencing the growing joy in her heart, and a joy independent of the external. With nothing but blind faith, she left for Thailand in the summer of 2013 to study yoga, which turned out to be a month filled with powerful trust and love with beautiful people. Through her training, she realised that this is the path that she wants to lead and has since embarked on the journey of sharing the bounty and blessings of yoga.
Winnie loves to see each practice as a little dance manoeuvre composed of mindfulness, breath, movement and freedom. Fluidity comes with the balance between strength and flexibility. She believes that yoga mirrors our lives and the real practice takes place beyond the mat.
